Time flies so fast that we could hardly imagine how gamers excite themselves to try out the traditional game “Nim” in 1940, in which players try to avoid picking up the last matchstick. There were about thousands of people who played it with only about 10% chances of winning against the opponent. This game was followed by the “cathode ray tube amusement device” in the late 1940s. The game uses a cathode ray tube hooked to an oscilloscope display and challenges players to fire a gun at a target.

Gaming excitement continues in1950. The early computer scientists begin using games to test the limits and potentials of their programs. Two of them created chess programs. A few years later, OXO (a game known as noughts and crosses in the United Kingdom and tic-tac-toe in the United States) was created. It was followed by a few games later in the 1950s, including Mouse in the Maze on MIT’s TX-0 computer, which was created by students at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

As the computer becomes more widespread in every community, more people in different institutions begin creating innovative games, including the first- known baseball computer program, Spacewar, STAGE, Brown Box, and others. This was later followed by Atari’s arcade table tennis, Pong, Pac-Man, and the most popular jump man named, “Mario.” After which, Tron and Tetris began in 1984. And who would have forgotten the Solitaire, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Kombat, Warcraft, PlayStation, and Tomb Raider in the 90s that excites more gamers in this generation?

Until such time that tremendous online games became popularly known worldwide. The time where smartphones put a game- playing computer in almost every body’s pocket, while online video streaming fuels the growth of esports. Microsoft’s Xbox Adaptive Controller makes gaming on Xbox more accessible to players with limited mobility. Gone are the days of singularly focused and basic gaming. These days, the gaming console has greatly developed from its basic features to ultra-portable and powerful features. It offers a high-res HDR (high dynamic range) and virtual reality gaming experience. Its growth is unending, and it significantly occupies an individual’s routine.
